it begins...

How it Started

Stupendium Softworks began, as all sensible ventures do, waist-deep in a Florida swimming pool. Alex Oxspring and The Stupendium realised that they had finally run out of excuses not to make a game together. Alex brings over a decade of industry experience and an obsession with deep lore, systems, and worlds that feel like they existed long before the player arrived.

Stupes brings musical verbosity, storytelling, and a flair for theatrical, unhinged creativity. With Stupendium Softworks, they're building something intentional alongside a team of Stupengineers, many of whom joined them from previous projects. It's a seriously skilled crew who already understand the tone: commit to the bit, marry the bit, and never give the bit up.

"Commit to the bit, marry the bit, and never give the bit up."

A core part of their vision is blending disciplines that don't always get to properly meet. Stupes brings a background in high-production filmmaking, while the Softworks team brings decades of combined game development experience across design, engineering, and worldbuilding. The aim is to fuse those strengths into something cohesive.

Games that feel as deliberately staged and emotionally directed as film, but remain deeply interactive, systemic, and player-driven. The goal isn't just to entertain, but to create small, smart, sustainable games that reward curiosity and commitment.

No generative AI, no wasted effort. Just strange, sincere, deeply human games made by people who care far too much.

Development Process

How it's going

Alex and Stupes have assembled a crack team of amazing Stupengineers to develop their first videogame. People with a variety of skills and disciplines that have proven themselves in the fires of game development.

The designs are signed-off, the levels have been greyboxed and the narrative is complete - production is full steam ahead! We have a grand plan ahead of us to create something that will allow us to tell stories for the long-term.

We are so excited to bring you all along for the ride. To bring you all into the universe we're building and watch you enjoy it all. We're sparing no expense to create a quality game that you will absolutely adore.

Prepare yourself for a future of stupendously silly games...

Core Principles

Studio Values

auto_awesome StupendouslyStrange

We're all about telling stories that stand out — quirky, surprising, even downright weird. That's the magic that makes our games unique. We aim to build a strong brand that keeps things fun and doesn't take itself too seriously. We also lean into our strengths, making use of our pre-existing experience in live action film making, our hobbies, and our hyper fixations to inform the stories we create.

visibility Honesty &Transparency

We think it's better to be open with each other so we can tackle challenges as a team. We're all in this together, and we try to treat everyone with kindness, patience, and understanding. Whenever possible, we want to share updates about development work openly with the whole team.

autorenew SustainableReusability

We design our games with a forward-thinking approach; every system, feature, and model we create is built with adaptability in mind. By considering their potential for future reuse, we lay the groundwork for long-term sustainability. We don't create massive games, instead we focus on making games that are budget-friendly, play to our strengths, and build upon what we've already accomplished.
